Delta Sigma Theta uses the Five-Point Thrust as an organizing structure as it creates programs to benefit the African-American community. The Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, which was established in 1955, includes:
Delta Sigma Theta’s response to national economic conditions and how they impact the communities we serve resulted in the Financial Fortitude initiative, which is a process designed to help members of the sorority, as well as, the greater community set and define goals, develop a plan to achieve them and to put the plan into action. Economic conditions we address include unstable employment, the widening gap between wealth and poverty, and the rise in residential foreclosures. Our initiative serves as a blueprint to address all aspects of personal finances.
